Barewood Inn and Suites

We had a good stay at Barewood. The rooms were pleasant but not luxurious by any stretch, they served a need for us though. We were late to check in and they were very accomodating and helpful about this. You can get around Lake Isabella easily by car.

The air bnbs on the area are extremely questionable so I really enjoyed staying here. The host was super nice and if you can’t get through on the phone, leave a voicemail and she will call you back! The bed was veryyy comfy and it had amenities like fridge/freezer, provided coffee, ac and ice outside. I stayed here several weeks. Parking felt safe too.

Our tent got blown down because of the wind being so strong on the late. I found them on google and just walked in the office to get a room. Place was super clean, quiet, and they’re pet friendly

What a restorative and creative specimen of California hospitality in this hidden gem of an inn! Donna in the front office goes above and beyond - with help from Herman, of course! The rooms are perfectly decorated and so comfortable! Plenty of hot water to soak in the bathtub after a day of hiking( I enclosed some videos of Isabella peak trail and Trail of 100 Giants with marvelous sequoias. I did not swim in the lake but the water is clean and cool This entire town has an effortless grace and the Barewood Inn is such a a genuine extension of it that I had to enclose some pictures! The stay was quiet, secure/ safe, and easily on of most memorable. Don’t forget to say “Hi kitteh!!” to Herman. He is massive. I drank my coffee on the front porch in the morning to catch the morning chorus of birds. Saw lots of wildlife on my treks then rested so peacefully in the comforting cocoon of a bed. You can’t go wrong staying here. I would book again in a heartbeat and stayed an extra day thanks to the hospitality from Donna and her team. There is even a free library exchange in the front office and ample ice It is not a large place so grab a room early in your travels and please forgive the mess of my “ lived in” room in the pictures. Be sure to wander a little!

We had a pleasant experience staying at Barewood Inn and Suites over the holidays! Check-in was fast and easy. Donna was so kind to supply some charcoal for us to use the grill by the picnic table. Rooms were so cozy, clean, and comfortable! We really enjoyed the coffee that they would stock daily for us. The motel has a beautiful view of the mountain and is very peaceful. Bonus plus - Herman the cat greets us at the hotel and even hung out with us while star gazing! He’s a very sweet cat and made our stay memorable. We look forward to coming back soon!

This is one of those places that just gets everything right. The rooms were spotless, quiet, and comfortable, the beds were great after a long day of travel, and the little details like the fridge, microwave, and porch seating made it feel welcoming rather than generic. The staff were friendly and genuinely helpful, and the location is perfect if you want easy lake access without the noise or chaos. Simple, clean, peaceful, and exactly what you want in the Kern River Valley.

This place is very cute and clean. The room was spacious and we loved the whirlpool tub. It has a good view of the lake and the front desk was very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area looking for a cute, affordable place.

Simple motel. 1960 remodeled buildings. Clean but nothing fancy. Very small place. I would stay again.
